MHS girls dominate arnis, seize Overall Champion title at Division Meet Palaro 2026

Marikina High School’s girls’ Arnis team claimed the Overall Champion title at the Division Meet Palaro 2026 on September 7 at the Concepcion Integrated School Elementary Level, powered by four gold-medal finishes and one bronze.

The competition opened from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. with the opening ceremony, the Anyo Competition for elementary students, and the official weigh-in of athletes. The Labanan Competition for secondary students followed from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

MHS’ girls delivered a commanding performance in the Labanan competition. Akishia Barbo secured gold in Pinweight, while Fei Agasin topped Bantamweight. Sophia Josbeth Antofina added another gold in Featherweight, and Kisha Santos completed the championship haul with gold in Half Lightweight.

Rennielyn Versoza rounded out the girls’ medal tally with a bronze in Extra Lightweight, contributing to MHS’ Overall Champion finish.

The MHS boys also secured three podium finishes. Jaehon Parcia earned bronze in Bantamweight, Corbin Guiriba placed third in Featherweight, and Keith Dicen took bronze in Extra Lightweight.

The athletes competed under the guidance of Dranreb Louie D. Nacario for the boys and Maribel T. Nacario for the girls, as the MHS Arnis delegation competed across their respective divisions.

The result also follows last year’s championship campaign, when the MHS boys claimed the overall Arnis title. This year, the girls took the spotlight, securing the overall crown through their combined finishes across the weight divisions.

For MHS, the result was not defined by a single bout or athlete, but by a collection of podium finishes that placed the girls at the top of the division.

The power was in their grip. The crown was theirs.
