The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) of Marikina High School (MHS) honored teachers through the “Teacher, Ikaw Naman!” program on October 5, 2026, featuring student-led performances, interactive games, appreciation activities, and special awards.

The celebration recognized the dedication, commitment, and contributions of MHS teachers in guiding learners, developing their knowledge and skills, and helping shape them into responsible and productive members of society.

Teachers also received special awards, including Compassionate Teacher, Side Hero Teacher, and Positive Energy Teacher, based on the results of a student survey and votes.

“Ngayong araw, binibigyan natin ng karangalan at papuri ang ating mga guro na gumabay sa atin,” said Jeffrey C. Trinidad, Principal IV and School Head of MHS, during the celebration.

The program began with a karaoke energizer where teachers passed the microphone to one another while singing until the song was completed, followed by interactive games that encouraged participation from both teachers and learners.

Among the featured games were “Bato Bato Pick with a Twist,” “Patalinuhan Challenge,” and “The Vest in Spelling,” which tested participants’ teamwork, knowledge, quick thinking, and coordination. The activities provided teachers and learners with opportunities to interact and celebrate in an engaging setting.

The celebration also featured student performances, with Jezrahiah Dela Cruz and Coco Lasantha Hetteriarchchi performing “Binibini,” while Jamilah Era A. Liquicia performed “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars. Grade 10 sections presented a combined dance performance, while Grade 9 sections Alchemical and Brilliance delivered separate dance performances.

The program was made possible through the support of SSLG officers, MHS faculty members, head teachers, and the Local Government Unit, who provided guidance and resources for the celebration.

Through the initiative, the SSLG sought to honor teachers’ dedication, give learners opportunities to express appreciation, and create meaningful experiences that strengthen the school community.
