MHS Wushu team goes seven-for-seven in gold, claims boys’ and girls’ overall crowns

Seven entries. Seven gold medals. Two overall championships. Marikina High School’s Wushu team completed a clean sweep at the Division Wushu Competition on September 9, 2026, at Parang Elementary School, claiming the overall boys’ and girls’ titles.

The boys led the medal haul with four golds. Clyde Amacio topped the 48-kg category, Jason Palomino secured gold in 52 kg, Jared Mones won in 56 kg, and Gersen Batuta added another gold in the 48-kg category under Group B.

The girls matched the feat with three gold-medal finishes. Divine Aquit claimed the 52-kg category in Group A, while Trinity Espina and Angeline Cardinoza topped the 42-kg and 45-kg categories, respectively, in Group B.

The competition opened with the official weigh-in and bout scheduling at 8:30 a.m., followed by a review of the rules at 9 a.m. Competition proper began at 10 a.m., with the winners receiving their medals during the 11 a.m. awarding ceremony before the final briefing and closing at noon.

The MHS Wushu delegation competed under the guidance of Dranreb Louie D. Nacario for the girls, Maribel T. Nacario for the boys, and Jason Mones as coach and trainer.

With every MHS entry finishing atop their respective categories, the team left the Division Meet with a spotless seven-gold tally, and both overall championship crowns in hand.
